DENVER SHORIN-RYU: is a traditional Okinawan Martial Arts School that is committed to preserving the classical training traditions of the martial arts.
The training is applicable to today's modern world; the training is functional and realistic. You can use it in your daily life!
Karate is a living art; it grows, develops and changes with the times and demands of its environment. We place a heavy emphasis on the study of Kata, just as they did in the past.
This is the easiest way to pass on the timeless applications, concepts and ideas to future generations. It is also the best way to remember the lessons learned.
Shihan David R.White has been involved in the martial arts for over 40 years! David started in Tae Kwon Do at the age of 13. He earned a black belt in that art in his mid-teens. After experiencing the tournament circuit, David moved on to other arts to broaden his experience and knowledge.
David White studied the Kenpo arts for many years. He then went in search of the Chinese arts. He studied a number of different Kung Fu styles including Shaolin, San-Soo, Wing Tsun, Tai Chi and Chi Kung. He gained advanced rank in several of those systems.
David eventually stumbled onto Karate at the age of 30. This was the art he had been searching for!
After many years of hard training and endless study, David White has obtained the rank of 6th Dan (Rukudan) and has earned the title of Shihan.
David is also a former teacher, former D.A.R.E. Officer and retired deputy sheriff.
"It's nice to know that there are good schools and teachers like this."
